ERIE, PA. -- The Fredonia State women's basketball team cruised past Cazenovia College, 89-59, in the consolation game of the Penn State Behrend Tip-Off Tournament on Sunday.
The Devils used two three-pointers from
Marissa Cussins, a pair of layups from
Becky Hebert and a jumper by
Nikole Lindquist over the first two-and-a-half minutes to take a 12-0 lead.
The Devil's largest lead of the half came on a
Grace Moore jumper with a minute left in the half to make it 44-28. Cazenovia converted a layup to make it 44-30 at the break.
The Devils opened the second half with a 10-3 burst over four minutes to claim a 21-point lead, 54-33. From that point on, the Devils never trailed by less than 17 points.
Hebert led Fredonia State with 25 points and four steals on her way to the All Tournament Team.
Freshman
Sabrina Macaulay added 12 points, seven rebounds and three steals.
Jillian Brunswick added 11 points, three assists and three steals off the bench.
Jaimie Warren had a team-high five assists and had six rebounds and three steals. Lindquist had eight points and seven boards.
The Devils won the battle on the boards 47-38 and caused 37 Wildcat turnovers with 22 steals.
Cazenovia's Erin O'Malley was named to the All Tourney team. She had 19 points and seven rebounds agains the Devils.
Fredonia State gets back into action on Tuesday evening. The women and men play host to D'Youville beginning at 6 p.m.
