BOXSCORE

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Mat Hehr (Sherwood Park, Alberta) scored the lone goal and Mark Friesen (Calgary, Alberta) made 25 saves as Fredonia State defeated Brockport, 1-0, in SUNYAC men's hockey Saturday at the Steele Hall Ice Arena.

Hehr chipped the puck ahead to himself, raced up the right side, and scored on a quick wrist shot from inside the right circle at 7:15 of the first period. It was his third goal of the season. Chad Bennett (Burlington, Ont.) was credited with an assist.

Friesen was called on to make several sprawling saves shortly after the Hehr goal. From that point on, he and Brockport's Jared Lockhurst matched zeroes -- with the Blue Devils improving to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Lockhurst made 26 saves.

Brockport fell to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

The Blue Devils were coming off a 8-1 loss Friday to Geneseo. They will meet Penn State, in its first season as an NCAA Division I program, Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Steele Hall Ice Arena.
