BOXSCORE FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's soccer team lost to Plattsburgh, 1-0, Friday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, Plattsburgh scored eight minutes into the second half. Jason Baker gathered a loose ball on a corner kick and delivered his second score of the season. He received the ball on a header from Joe Aratari for the assist.
The Cardinals remained in control most of the second half. They managed seven shots on goal, while the Devils were not credtied with any shots on goal.
The teams played a fairly even first half with a lot of back-and-forth action. Plattsburgh held an 8-5 advantage in shots, and a 4-2 advantage in shots on goal in the initial frame.
Mike Schreiner (Spencerport) recorded 10 saves for Fredonia State. Zach Kruizenga had two saves in earning the shutout.
The Blue Devils fall to 3-3 in conference play and 4-11 overall.
Plattsburgh improves to 5-1 in the conference and 14-1 overall.
The Blue Devils take on Potsdam Saturday afternoon. Senior Day ceremonies will be held prior to the game.
