Hockey season resumes Tuesday vs. Elmira

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State resumes its men's hockey season Tuesday night at the Steele Hall Ice Arena.

The Blue Devils (6-5-3) meet the Elmira Soaring Eagles at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The last game for the Blue Devils was Dec. 10, a 5-2 win over Johnson and Wales.

Tuesday's game vs. Elmira is the first of 11 games left in the regular season as well the first of five games against teams currently ranked in the USCHO.com NCAA Division III poll.

The Soaring Eagles are No. 13 this week while the Neumann Knights are No. 6 – up two spots from last week. The Knights visit Steele Hall for two games later this week -- 7 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday at Steele Hall.

The Blue Devils' other two currently ranked opponents are the No. 2 Oswego Lakers and No. 3 Plattsburgh Cardinals. The Blue Devils play both those teams away from home – Feb. 2 at Oswego, Feb. 10 at Plattsburgh.

Fredonia State is 5-2-1 at home this season. The Blue Devils will enter the game Tuesday with sixth-best penalty killing unit in NCAA Division III – 62 of 69 for 89.9 percent. They have successfully killed 25 straight power plays by their opponents.
