Devils sweep Oswego, Geneseo

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Fredonia State defeated Oswego, 3-0, and Geneseo, 3-0, on the second day of SUNYAC West Division Pool Play hosted by Buffalo State. Against Oswego, sophomore Hannah Manning (Apalachin, N.Y.) led the way with 10 kills and seven digs. She was joined by senior Emily Linn (Olean, N.Y.) with eight kills and two blocks, senior Sarah Zureck (Lancaster, N.Y.) with 14 digs and four service aces, and junior Lindsey Olson (Portville, N.Y.) with four kills and five aces. The Blue Devils won the match with set scores of 25-12, 25-7, and 25-18. Fredonia State closed out its weekend with a 26-24, 25-16, and 25-23 victory over Geneseo. Olson was the top player with 10 kills, 15 digs, and two blocks. Four teammates made key statistical contributions. Jennifer Newhouse (Amherste, N.Y.), a senior, collected eight kills and two blocks; senior Brittany Lis (Lancaster, N.Y.) had 33 assists and six digs; Zureck was credited with 21 digs and two service aces; and senior Jessica Ernstberger (Rochester, N.Y.) added nine digs and two service aces. The Blue Devils improved to 10-7 overall and 3-1 in SUNYAC. They return to action 7 p.m. Tuesday at Nazareth.
