FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State was defeated 9-0 by Oneonta State in the season opener for both teams Friday on the Steele Hall courts.

Stephanie Thompson, a freshman, won the most games by a Blue Devil. She was defeated 6-3, 6-4 by Colette Lankowicz in their No. 6 singles match.

In doubles competition, the team of Lesley Cerniglia and Molly Zanetti had the closest match. They lost to Emily Maggiore and Jennifer Wlodarczyk 8-4 in No. 3 doubles.

The Blue Devils return to action at home next Wednesday afternoon vs. Penn State Behrend.
