PORTLAND, N.Y. -- Fredonia State defeated other teams Saturday following the 2011 running of the team's Invitational at Lake Erie State Park.
The Blue Devils scored 28 points, Mercyhurst 40, Daemen 71, Medaille 71, Pitt-Bradford 127, and Hilbert 159.
For the second straight meet, the Blue Devils were led by junior Peter Francia. The reigning SUNYAC Men's Cross Country Male Runner of the Week, Francia covered the 8,000 meters in 26:27 -- 13 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
Ryan Delaney finished as Fredonia State's No. 2 runner and third overall in 26:53.
Nico Piacentini led a pack of seven straight Blue Devils to finish. He was seventh overall in 27:20,
Alex Gonzalez was eighth (27:21),
Jake Krautwurst ninth (27:26),
Adam Steves 10th (27:27),
Chris Shartrand 11th (27:27),
Jack Bennett 12th (27:51), and
Brian Gallagher 13th (28:08).
The Blue Devils will participate in the Fredonia State 5K Alumni Challenge at 11 a.m. Saturday on a campus course.
