FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State will face Geneseo at 1 p.m. Thursday in the first round of the SUNYAC Tournament at SUNY Cortland.
The Blue Devils are the No. 3 seed in the six-team bracket after posting a 13-5 conference record. They are 25-7 overall. Geneseo is the No. 4 seed.
In other first-round games, the No. 1 seed and host Cortland Red Dragons will host No. 6 seed Brockport at 9 a.m. Thursday. No. 2 Plattsburgh and No. 5 Buffalo State face off in the 11 a.m. game.
The double-elimination tournament is scheduled to run through Saturday, unless an if-necessary championship game is needed. The if-necessary game is scheduled for noon Sunday.
Fredonia State is making its first SUNYAC Tournament appearance since 2004. That year, the Blue Devils defeated Geneseo but lost to Cortland and Oneonta and finished with a 26-15 record. The 26 wins is a school record.
Geneseo enters the tournament with a 10-8 SUNYAC reconrd, 19-17 overall. Two of the losses came at the hands of the Blue Devils, 4-3 and 6-5, when the teams met April 2 at Fredonia.
