OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Fredonia State baseball team completed its sweep of Oswego taking the third game of the weekend by a score of 7-2 on Sunday.
Freshman righthander Sean Larson turned in a superb pitching performance, going 8 2/3 innings allowing four hits and striking out a career-best 11. He improved to 3-1 on the season.

Larson pitched into the ninth. After retiring the first two batters, two infield hits and an error plated a pair of runs. After a walk, Angelo Sciandra was summoned from the bullpen to get the final out.

The Devils scored their first run in the first inning. Jon Messina lined a one-out single and moved to second after Taylor Gahagen singled. Messina took off for third as the batter struck out, and scored on an errant throw.

The Devils added a run in the sixth to make it 2-0. Gahagen and Brian Sheehan each singled, and moved up to second and third following a sacrifice bunt. Jake Nowak drove home Gahagen with a sacrifice fly.

The Devils put together a big inning in the seventh. Following a walk, single and another walk, Sheehan drove home the first run with a sacrifice fly. The Devils would again load the bases as Dillon Lowe drew a walk. Joe Kephart came through with a three-run double to make it 6-0.

Alex Foster drove home the final run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth.

Messina, Gahagen and Nowak finished the day with three hits apiece. Sheehan and Dan Greco each had a pair of hits.

The Devils improved to 17-18 overall and 5-13 in the SUNYAC. They wrap up the season with a home game vs. Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday, followed by a trip to Bradford on Friday.
