OSWEGO, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State baseball team swept a pair of SUNYAC road games at Oswego. The Devils won 12-4 and 4-0.
The Devils completed the sweep as senior
Matt Sullivan tossed a complete-game three-hitter, striking out seven and walking none.
The Devils used a three-run first to take control of the game.
Brian Sheehan had an RBI single to plate the first run.
Vinnie VanAuker added a two-run single to make it 3-0.
Joe Kephart added an RBI single in the fifth to give the final.
The Devils jumped out to an 8-0 lead over the first three innings of Game 1. A five-run first was capped by a Kephart opposite-field, three-run home run.
Oswego got its only runs of the day in the fifth, using a pair of infield hits, a pair of walks and a base hit to plate four runs.
The Devils wrapped up the scoring with three runs in the seventh and one in the ninth. As a team, the Devils ripped 17 hits in the game.
Andy Dlugosz picked up his fourth win of the season, tossing 3 2/3 innings in relief of starter
Jordan Hibbard.
Zach Murray pitched a scoreless ninth.
Kephart,
Taylor Gahagen and
Jon Messina each had three hits in Game 1. Kephart had five RBI.
VanAuker,
Dillon Lowe and Tommy Dee each added two hits.
The Devils improve to 16-18 on the season, and 4-13 in the conference. The two teams wrap up the series with a nine-inning game at noon on Sunday.
