FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State baseball team brought out the lumber in downing the defending AMCC champion Penn State Behrend Lions, 12-1, Thursday at Ludwig Field.
Blue Devil starting pitcher
Dan Greco tossed seven strong innings, allowing three hits and one unearned run in earning the win.
Greco was backed by his battery-mate
Brian Sheehan with four hits and two RBI.
Jon Messina added a pair of hits and three runs and
Joe Kephart scored three times.
Jake Nowak and Tommy Dee drove in two runs apiece.
The Devils went scoreless through the first two innings, then managed runs in each of the next six innings. A five-run fifth was the big inning. They also had three in the sixth.
Freshmen
Sean Larson and Ronnie Mannella eached pitched a scoreless frame to preserve the win.
The Devils improve to 13-15 on the season. Behrend falls to 17-8.
The Devils are back in conference action with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Friday versus New Paltz. The teams will also match up for a single game on Saturday.
