FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State scored two in the last of the seventh inning to force extra innings, then plated the game-winning in the last of the ninth to complete a SUNYAC doubleheader sweep of Geneseo, 4-3 and 6-5.

Michelle Lattner walked, was sacrificed to second by Lauren Larson, and scored on a double down the left-field line by Julie Arnold as the Blue Devils improved to 14-2 and 2-0 in the SUNYAC.

Alyssa Brognano earned the win in relief. She allowed one run on five hits in 4 1/3 innings to improve to 4-1 this season. Katie Gallagher took the loss in relief. She was also the losing pitcher in Game 1.

The Blue Devils led 3-0 after scoring two in the first and one more in the second. Lattner had an RBI single and Arnold drew a bases-loaded walk in the first inning. In the second, Lattner drew a baess-loaded walk -- she walked three times and had two hits in the game -- but as they did in the first, the Blue Devils left the bases full. They stranded 12 runners in the game.

The Blue Knights (5-7, 0-2 SUNYAC) had only one hit over the first four innings before erupting for four runs on five hits. Stefanie Rosenberg had an RBI double and Patricia Callahan, K.K. Schaus, and Lexi Williams had RBI singles during the uprising off Blue Devil starter Jennifer Tighe.

Geneseo took a 5-3 lead in the sixth on a throwing error. The Blue Knights then quelled a Fredonia State rally in the sixth by cutting down a runner trying to score from first for the first out of the inning. Callahan, the Geneseo starter, pitched out of further trouble.

Fredonia State's tying rally started with one out in the last of the seventh. Lattner walked for the third time, Lauren Larson singled, and Arnold singled to load the bases. Anne Wasik then drew a bases-loaded walk, followed by a infield grounder by Rachel Burrows to forge a 5-5 tie.

Neither team threatened in the eighth inning, and Geneseo went down without scoring in the top of the ninth.

In the first game, the Blue Devils broke on top 2-0, then 3-0, before Geneseo forged a 3-3 tie. Hannah Vesneske broke the tie with an RBI single in the last of the fifth. It came after Tina Schwartzmeyer doubled, one of her three hits in the game. Lattner had two hits, including a two-run single in the first following singles by Schwartzmeyer, Brittany Lis, and Vesneske.

The Blue Devils scored one run in the fourth in a single by Lattner, a sacrifice bunt by Arnold, and an RBI single by Larson. Geneseo's three-run fifth inning was fueled Fredonia State errors. Wililams had an RBI single for the Blue Knights.

Danielle Shelp improved to 4-0 with a complete-game seven-hitter. She scattered seven hits and only one of the three runs she allowed was earned.
