FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Buffalo State Bengals were able to hold off the Fredonia State Blue Devils 8-6 Tuesday afternoon on the campus of SUNY Fredonia. With the loss, the Blue Devils fall to 9-3 overall and 2-2 in the SUNYAC. The Bengals improve to 8-4 overall and 2-2 in the SUNYAC.
After falling behind 4-3 18:07 into the first half, Buffalo State responded with a 4-0 run. Karen Shaddock recorded the final goal of the first half; tying the game at halftime. The Bengals used the momentum gained from this goal to open the second half on a 3-0 run to put the game out of reach. The Blue Devils did cut the margin down to two with just over 17 minutes remaining in the game; however they were unable to regain their momentum, falling short by a final score of 8-6.
Both teams traded goals during the first half before Buffalo State went on a 3-0 to take a convincing 7-4 lead. The Blue Devils responded with a goal of their own by
Marissa Cussins before Mariah DeBolt regained the Bengals three goal lead. Bolt and Karen Shaddock led the way for Buffalo State, scoring two goals apiece. Kendyl Clarkson added three assists in the win.
The Blue Devils will look to get back on track when they take on the Potsdam Bears Saturday afternoon.
