FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's lacrosse team fell to the Adrian Bulldogs 12-9 Friday afternoon at University Stadium on the campus of SUNY Fredonia. The loss was the first for the Blue Devils (7-1) on the year. The Bulldogs improved their record to 8-4.
The Bulldogs used a 7-0 run to end the first half and start the second half to erase an early 5-1 lead by the Blue Devils.
The Bulldogs got off to a fast start, scoring their first goal 1:35 minutes into the game. The Blue Devils responded with a 5-0 run to take the lead with 13:45 remaining in the first half. Brinthaupt scored two goals during the run, while Simon, Reinis, and Cussins each recorded one goal apiece.
The Bulldogs responded with a 5-0 run to take a one goal lead into halftime. Adrian came out hot in the second half, scoring two quick goals to take an 8-5 lead. The Blue Devils were unable to answer with a run of their own.
The Blue Devils look to get back on track Saturday afternoon when they take on SUNY New Paltz.
