Bulldogs hand Blue Devils first loss of season

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's lacrosse team fell to the Adrian Bulldogs 12-9 Friday afternoon at University Stadium on the campus of SUNY Fredonia. The loss was the first for the Blue Devils (7-1) on the year. The Bulldogs improved their record to 8-4.
 
The Bulldogs used a 7-0 run to end the first half and start the second half to erase an early 5-1 lead by the Blue Devils.  
 
Rachael Reinis and Karli Brinthaupt led the Blue Devils' attack with three goals apiece, while Marissa Cussins, Amy Simon, and Cortney Ciaschi each recorded one goal. Simon also led the Devils with two assists.
 
The Bulldogs got off to a fast start, scoring their first goal 1:35 minutes into the game. The Blue Devils responded with a 5-0 run to take the lead with 13:45 remaining in the first half. Brinthaupt scored two goals during the run, while Simon, Reinis, and Cussins each recorded one goal apiece.

The Bulldogs responded with a 5-0 run to take a one goal lead into halftime. Adrian came out hot in the second half, scoring two quick goals to take an 8-5 lead. The Blue Devils were unable to answer with a run of their own.

The Blue Devils look to get back on track Saturday afternoon when they take on SUNY New Paltz.
