MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Fredonia State built an early lead and coasted to an 18-10 victory over Allegheny in the first 2011 event by a Blue Devil spring team.

Marissa Cussins, playing in her first collegiate lacrosse game, had five goals -- all in the first half -- to lead the Blue Devils' balanced offense. Karli Brinthaupt added four goals, Morgan McNamara and Rachael Reinis had three goals each, and Laura Culhane had two goals.

Casey Chiesa made 10 saves in the Fredonia State goal. The Blue Devils led 10-4 at halftime.

The Blue Devils travel to West Palm Beach, Fla., for their next three games. They meet Vassar next Thursday, St. Lawrence on March 15, and an opponent to be determined March 17. The next home game is March 19 vs. Wooster.
