Devils sweep and get swept

Baseball downs Baruch twice, and falls to Illinois College

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State baseball team swept a doubleheader from Baruch College on Friday, a day after falling twice to Illinois College on Thursday.
The Devils downed Baruch 9-6 and 10-3. They fell to Illinois College 9-8 (eight innings) and 7-2.
Against Baruch, the Devils received strong pitching performances from starter Jordan Hibbard and Angelo Sciandra to complete the sweep. Both pitchers earned wins.

Offensively, John Messina had four hits in the double-dip. Jake Nowak and Dillon Lowe added three hits apiece.

Against Illinois College, the Devils twice surrendered three-run leads, including an 8-5 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning to take the loss. Three walks keyed the Illinois rally.

In the nightcap, a two-run double from Andy Dlugosz provided the offense for the Devils.

Messina and Tommy Dee had three hits in the doubleheader. Brian Sheehan reached base four times.

Dlugosz took the loss in game one, while Matt Sullivan suffered the loss in game two.

The Devils are now 2-2 on the season, and are off Saturday. They take on St. Joseph's on Sunday.
