BOXSCORE BOXSCORE

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Fredonia State fell to NCAA Division I Youngstown State, 69-35,  on Tuesday night.

Julius Bryant had 13 points and six rebounds to lead the Blue Devils, who fell to 6-2. It was their eighth straight road game to open the season.

Blake Allen led the Penguins (6-2) with 14 points, DuShawn Brooks added 13, and Kendrick Perry had 12.

The Blue Devils struggled with their shooting and with their ball control. They made 5 of 23 shots in the first half and made 14 turnovers. They trailed 31-12 at halftime.

In order to keep game close, the Blue Devils needed to control the tempo of the game. But the Penguins would have none of it. The hosts hit their first two shots and made the Blue Devils play catch-up the rest of the night.

The Penguins also opened in a full-court press to keep the pace to their liking.

As their deficit grew in the first half, the Blue Devils began to rely increasingly on their three-point shooting. They connected on 1 of 11 from beyond the stripe and 3 of 16 in the game. The Penguins converted 9 of 24 three-pointers. The nine threes was the most by a Blue Devil opponent this season.

It was the 20th time the Blue Devils have met a NCAA Division I team, all resulting in losses.

The Blue Devils play their first home game of the season 8 p.m. Friday when they host Oswego.
