BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's basketball team ran its win streak to four games, downing the D'Youville Spartans, 89-72.
The Devils (4-0) led by five at the half, 35-30, before dominating the second half leading by as many as 24 points, 77-53 with 6:00 left to play, before settling for the 17-point margin.
The Devils were paced by
Kevin Mitchell with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists.
Amir Billups finished with 16 points and
Julius Bryant had 12.
Leonard Smith finished with team highs with 9 rebounds and 6 assists.
The Devils dominated the boards, outrebounding the Spartans 46-25. Fredonia State also shot a nifty 50 percent (10 for 20) from behind the arc. Billups was 4 for 4 on long-range buckets.
D'Youville (0-4) was led by Raysean Johnson with 23 points.
The Devils return to the hardwood in a week, traveling to Elmira next Tuesday.
