Oswego outscores Blue Devils

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Oswego defeated Fredonia State, 4-1, in SUNYAC men's hockey Friday at Steele Hall.

Andrew Mather and Luke Moodie scored first-period goals for the Lakers. Chris Muise and Ian Boots added insurance goals.

Andrew Hare made 16 saves for the Lakers, ranked No. 2 in NCAA Division III by USCHO.com.

Mike Muhs scored for the Blue Devils at 10:07 of the third period. It was his second goal of the season.

Mark Friesen made 34 saves in the Fredonia State net.

The Lakers opened the scoring while Fredonia State was killing off a five-minute boarding penalty. Mather's slapshot from the left circle resulted in a power-play goal.

Moodie scored on a 2-on-1 rush at 10:21 of the first period.

That was all the Lakers required to improve to 6-1-1 overall and 4-1-1 to lead the SUNYAC.

The Blue Devils fell to 4-4-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the conference. They are back at home Saturday night vs. Cortland. Game time is 7 p.m.
