BOXSCORE FREDONIA, N.Y. --- The Fredonia State Blue Devils scored two first-half goals Friday and defeated the Oswego Lakers 2-1, at University Stadium.
This victory lifted the Blue Devils up to 9-4-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the SUNYAC. Oswego fell to 5-6-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the conference.
Oswego grabbed the 1-0 lead by Mike Naab scored on a penalty kick in the 19th minute. It was his third goal of the season.
The Blue Devils knotted the score at 1-1 as
Luke Tylutki scored his fifth goal of the season in the 22nd minute. Tylutki received a pass from the midfield and outran a Laker defender up the left side. He shot low into the opposite corner inside the far post.
David Thoin gave the Blue Devils a 2-1 lead.
Tyler Williams put the ball into the middle of the field and Thoin connected while surrounded by teammates and defenders.
It was Thoin's first goal of the season and his second as a collegian. His first came during his freshman season of 2008.
Bobby McGinnis was credited by two saves as he improved to 6-4-0 in goal for the Blue Devils, who outshot the Lakers 9-8. The Blue Devils also had a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Blue Devils are back in action 1 p.m. Saturday against Cortland at University Stadium.
