PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Down 12-7 in the fifth and final set, the Fredonia State volleyball team scored the final eight points to claim a wild 15-12 victory and a road win over St. John Fisher on Tuesday.
Senior
Brittany Lis, who served each of the final eight points, did not record an ace as her Blue Devil teammates spiked their way to victory.
Fisher took the first set, 25-21. The Devils then claimed the next two, winning 25-22 and 25-19. The Cardinals claimed the fourth set 25-17, and set the stage for the eventual Blue Devil rally.
Lis finished with 46 assists and 16 digs.
Lindsey Olson topped the Devils with 16 kills and three aces to go along with 12 digs.
Jennifer Newhouse had 11 kills and six blocks and
Chelsea Senn had 10 kills and seven blocks.
Sarah Zureck added 20 digs.
Rachael Kline had 17 kills and Becca Smith had 14 kills for Fisher. The Cardinals fell to 18-10.
The Devils improved to 22-10. They travel back to the Rochester area this weekend in the University of Rochester Tournament to wrap up the regular season. The following weekend, they take part in the SUNYAC Tournament as the West's No. 1 seed.
