BOXSCORE FREDONIA, N.Y.—The Fredonia State women's soccer team defeated the Plattsburgh Cardinals, 3-0, on Friday at University Stadium.
The Blue Devils improved to 8-6-0 overall and 4-2-0 SUNYAC. The Cardinals fell to 5-4-3 overall and 3-2-1 SUNYAC.
Sophomore forward
Katie Kleine notched the first goal for Fredonia State in the 7th minute. Kleine scored with a low shot after two quick passes from senior forward
Reilly Condidorio and junior defender Maddie Brown.
Sophomore midfielder
Catie Hale gave Fredonia state a 2-0 lead with a headshot goal in the 18th minute. Senior midfielder
Melissa Cummiskey was credited with an assist.
The Blue Devils' third goal came in the 29th minute. Sophomore forward
Kristi Putzig ran in an open space after Cummiskey's shot was blocked by the Cardinals' Alina Greiser. Putzig then buried the shot.
Devils' junior goalkeeper
Meaghan Meszaros was credited with five saves while recording her sixth shutout of the season. She improved to 6-4-0.
For Plattsburgh, Greiser was credited with three saves in 37:00. She surrendered all three goals before Monica D'lppolito finished the rest of the game in goal with two saves.
The Blue Devils edged the Cardinals on shots, 15-8. The Cardinals had an advantage in corner kicks, 3-2.
The Blue Devils will be back in SUNYAC action 1 p.m. Saturday at University Stadium as they play host to Potsdam.
