BOXSCORE BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Fredonia State scored an important 2-1 SUNYAC win Saturday over Buffalo State.

Luke Tylutki scored in the first half and Tyler Williams added insurance in the second half as the Blue Devils avoided an 0-3 start in the SUNYAC. Instead, they improved to 1-2 in the conference and 8-4 overall.

Buffalo State fell to 5-3-2 overall and 0-3-0 in the SUNYAC.

Tylutki opened the scoring at 31:01 when he ran down a ball from the midfield and touched it past the Buffalo State goalkeeper. It was Tylutki's fourth goal of the season.

Williams added to the Blue Devil lead, 2-0, at 77:55 when he drilled a shot off the inside of the near post and into the net. For Williams, it was his team-leading sixth goal as well as his third game-winner.

Buffalo State avoided the shutout and made things interesting down the stretch when Phil Pinzone put a shot into the upper left corner behind Blue Devil goalkeeper A.J. Grecco at 82:38.

Grecco finished with six saves. Buffalo State goalkeeper Ben Spilman had no saves.

The Blue Devils were outshot 15-6 and had one fewer corner kick, 5-4, than the Bengals.

Fredonia State returns home for its next two SUNYAC matches -- 4 p.m. Friday vs. Oswego, 1 p.m. Saturday vs. Cortland.
