(BOX SCORE)

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State's top lines accounted for all the scoring Saturday in a 5-3 home win over No. 15-ranked Hobart.

The No. 1 forward line of Jordan Oye, Mat Hehr, and Alex Morton combined for eight points, while the top defensive pairing of Steve Rizer and Chris de Bruyn chipped in for the rest.

With the win, the Blue Devils improved to 6-8-0. The Statesmen dropped to 8-4-1 with their first loss after six straight wins, including a 5-2 victory in December over Oswego, the No. 1 NCAA Division III team at the time.

De Bruyn opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 11:35 of the first period. Neither team scoring until Hobart's Mike White forged a 1-1 tie at the 7:51 mark of period two.

Oye then traded goals with Hobart's Tommy Fiorentino before the Blue Devils took a 3-2 lead. Hehr scored at the 14:05 mark, assisted by linemates Oye and Morton.

In the third period, Rizer scored the Blue Devils' third power-play goal of the game to give his team a 4-2 lead. Hobart goaltender Nick Broadwater left the net with 2:25 remaining and it paid off when Brad Rickard scored from the point through a screen in front of Blue Devil goaltender Mark Friesen.

The shift of momentum was shortlived as Oye capped the scoring with a goal into an empty net with :09 remaining.

Oye finished with two goals and two assists, Hehr with one of each, and Morton with two assists. Meanwhile, Rizer had one goal and one assist, and de Bruyn the one goal which opened the scoring.

Each goaltender, Fredonia State's Friesen and Hobart's Broadwater, made 23 saves.

The Blue Devils visit Elmira next Tuesday (game time is 7 p.m.) before returning home for four straight home games. They homestand includes games next Friday (7 p.m.) and Saturday (3 p.m.) vs. Franklin Pierce.
