ONEONTA, N.Y. -- A long second-half scoring drought was Fredonia State's undoing Friday in a 58-46 SUNYAC loss to the Oneonta Red Dragons.

The Blue Devils were outscored 19-5 over a span that stretched of nearly 14 minutes. A three-point basket by Sean Donahue came with 3:07 remaining, but by the Red Dragons had built a 49-37 lead.

The Blue Devils took a 18-9 lead on consecutive baskets by Dalton Kashmer, Damien Goodwin II, and Kevin Mitchell. The Red Dragons went on a 9-0 run to lead 25-22 at halftime.

Donahue made a three-pointer to forge a 25-25 tie early in the second half, yet the Blue Devils were unable to retake the lead. After falling behind, they made it a 30-29 game on a trey by Joseph Monahan. Between his trey and Donahue's trey with 3:07 left, the Blue Devils managed just five points -- a three-point basket by Kashmer and two free throws by Goodwin.

Monahan and Goodwin finished with 10 points each. The senior duo of Shane Gillette and Troy Talbot led the Red Dragons with 12 points each. Gillette scored nine of his 12 points in the second half.

Oneonta improved to 4-7 overall and 2-1 in the SUNYAC. Fredonia State fell to 4-5 and 1-2 heading into a SUNYAC game 4 p.m. Saturday at New Paltz.
