Devils dropped at Cortland

CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's basketball team dropped a 69-57 road game at Cortland on Friday.

Cortland led 37-25 at halftime. The Red Dragons would lead by as many as 12 early in the period. The Devils pulled within two points, 25-23, following a Dalton Kashmer three pointer at 7:24. From there, Cortland would close out the half with a 12-2 run.

Both teams scored 32 points in the second half to give the final.

Cortland used the long ball to its advantage, hitting 12 three pointers compared to four for the Devils.

Fredonia State held a 31-30 advantage in rebounding.

Adam Smith had a double-double for the Devils with 23 points and 14 rebounds. He shot 10 for 16 from the field. Joseph Monahan added 11 points.

Cortland (3-7 SUNYAC, 6-11 overall) was led by Jeremy Smith with 22 points, Jesse Winter with 20 and  John Connolly with 17. The rest of the team accounted for only 10 points.

The Devils fall to 2-8 in the conference and 5-11 overall. They travel to Oswego on Saturday.
