FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Brockport made 10 of 12 free throws in the final 1:04 to gain a 62-58 road victory at Fredonia State on Tuesday evening.
Tied 52-all following a layup by Fredonia State's
Grace Moore, Brockport made the most of its opportunities to seal the win. Alex Leung and Desiree Fauvelle combined to make eight straight free throws as Brockport took a 60-52 advantage.
The Devils'
Caroline Hourihan nailed a pair of long three pointers in the final 14 seconds to keep it close. Two more Brockport free throws gave the final.
The second half featured eight lead changes and four ties.
Hourihan led the Devils with 17 points.
Grace Moore and
Becky Hebert had nine apiece. Moore added four assists and
Nicole Calbi had six helpers.
Brockport was paced by Ellen Story with 19 points. Sarah Alwardt added 11, and Fauvelle had 10 points.
The Golden Eagles held a 46-35 advantage in rebounds. They also made 32 trips to the free throw line, converting on 21 attempts, to the Devils 15 attempts. Fredonia State hit on eight shots.
The teams played an even first half, with no team leading by more than four points. At the break, the Devils held a 29-28 advantage. Hourihan had eight points to lead the Devils. Story had seven to top the Golden Eagles.
Brockport improves to 4-9 overall and 1-4 in the SUNYAC.
Fredonia State (2-10, 0-6 SUNYAC) will be on the road this weekend, making the trip to the North Country to take on Plattsburgh and Potsdam.
