RESULTS
FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's swim team soundly defeated Nazareth College, 209-85, on Saturday afternoon. The women's team dropped their meets to Nazareth (149-147) and Ithaca College (192-108) in the Steele Hall Natatorium.
For the men,
Mike Hughson earned a trio of individual victories, claiming the 200 freestyle, 200 butterfly and 500 freestyle.
Hughson added another first place, combining with
Matt Beebe,
John Estanislau and
Rob Sweeny to take the 200 free relay.
Mike Mitchell was a double winner, taking the 100 and 200 breast strokes.
Eric Jordan claimed a pair of wins in the 200 medley and 100 backstroke. The Devils finished 1-2-3 in the 100 backstroke, with
Andrew Case and
Matt Coleman rounding out the top finishers.
Other top finishers included Sweeny in the 50 freestyle and Estanislau in the 100 freestyle.
In the 1 meter diving,
Joshua Croft finished just ahead of teammate
Ryan Fuller, 230.40 to 229.50 to take the victory. Fuller claimed the 3m board as Croft finished second.
For the women,
Lizzie Lodinsky took the 100 free and
Morgan Reisch won the 200 butterfly.
Sarah Ficarro won both the 1m and 3m boards for the Devils.
Head coach
Arthur Wang saw mixed results after his team returned from training down south. "Some times were great, some were an indication of how hard we trained (over the past week)."
The meet was the final home contest for seniors
Morgan Reisch,
Ryan McGroder and
Mike Mitchell. Next weekend, the Devils make a road trip to take on Division II Edinboro University.
