Devils fall despite Warren's career night

Freshman leads team with 19 points and 12 boards, both career highs

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The Fredonia State women's basketball team wrapped up the semester dropping a non-conference tilt, 86-65, at Allegheny College on Thursday.

The Gators (6-3) took control of the game early, holding a 48-26 lead at halftime.They finished with four players in double figures, led by Jill Gregory's 17. Heidie Goeller added 14, while Daryl Ford and Saddie Gravatt had 12 apiece.

Freshman Jaimie Warren had a hot hand for the Devils, converting on eight of nine field goals, and three of four free throws en route to a career-high 19 points. She also had a team-high 12 rebounds. Nicole Calbi added 16 points and eight rebounds, while Liz Wierbinski scored 11.

The game was relatively even statistically, with Allegheny holding a slight edge in rebounding, 46-44, and field goals, 28-25. Fredonia State had one fewer turnover, 17-18, and committed 20 fouls to Allegheny's 17.

The Gator's converted twice as many free throws. They converted 26 times (26 of 33, 79 percent) to the Devils' 13 (13 of 18, 72 percent).

The Devils fall to 2-6 on the season. They are off until Jan. 7 when they travel to Oneonta.
