PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Thirteen players had at least one point in Fredonia State's 7-3 win Friday over Johnson & Wales.
Mitch Kulikoski netted two goals and
Ben Waldman had one goal and two assists.
Chris Jung,
Alex Morton,
Brett Mueller, and
Andrew Christ scored Fredonia State's other goals.
The Blue Devils improved to 4-8. Johnson & Wales fell to 4-3-1.
Kody Van Rentergem made 24 saves -- 15 during the decisive second period -- to earn his first victory of the season in his second starting assignment.
The Blue Devils took only 23 shots but made them count. With the teams tied 2-2, Kulikoski scored on a 6-on-4 to put his team in front by a goal.
Morton's goal at 19:59 sent the Blue Devils' into the second intermission with a two-goal lead. It would stand as the game-winning goal.
Johnson & Wales trimmed its deficit to 4-3 on a power-play goal by Jeremiah Ketts, his second of the game.
Mueller and Christ restored order for the Blue Devils with goals 32 seconds apart.
Waldman put the finishing touches on his three-point game and completed the scoring at the 16:08 mark of the third period.
The Blue Devils close out the first semester when they meet Johnson & Wales again Saturday afternoon. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
