FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State opens the home portion of its 2010-11 men's ice hockey season Friday when Buffalo State visits in a SUNYAC game.
The Steele Hall Ice Arena box office opens at 6 p.m. Opening face-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
"We are excited to finally play a game at home," head coach
Jeff Meredith said. "Steele Hall has always been a great home-ice advantage and we are looking to continue that trend."
The Blue Devils opened their season with four straight road games, losing twice at Manhattanville before splitting two SUNYAC games last weekend -- a 3-2 overtime win at Cortland followed by a 3-0 loss at nationally ranked Oswego.
Buffalo State, on the other hand, comes to town off two losses -- 5-2 at Oswego and 4-3 at Cortland. The Bengals have 16 freshmen on their roster. Fredonia State had a similar number last year.
"When you have that many faces," Meredith said, "they are extremely excited and energetic to play. Fredonia State vs. Buff State in hockey is always a battle."
