Five Devils win events in loss at Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Fredonia State men won five events Saturday in a 164-136 loss to the Allegheny Gators.

The Blue Devils, 1-6 in dual meets, swept springboard diving. In the 1-meter event, sophomore Ryan Fuller (Endicott/Union-Endicott) was the winner with 227.55 points, while junior John Rodman (Livonia) won the 3-meter competition with 236.37 points.

Fuller was second in the 3-meter and Rodman third in the 1-meter.

The Blue Devils also won three swimming events. Mike Mitchell (Medina, Ohio), a senior, was first in the 200-yard breast stroke; his 2:19.15 is among the top times in the SUNYAC this season.

Also, junior Mike Hughson (Albion) won the 200 butterfly (2:06.52), and freshman Eric Jordan (Lancaster) won the 200 backstroke (2:03.64).

The Blue Devils are idle until Friday, Dec. 3, the first day of the Blue Devil Invitational at the Steele Hall Natatorium. The Invitational runs through Sunday, Dec. 5.

On the women's side Saturday, Fredonia State upset Allegheny, 163-153.
