BOXSCORE

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -- The Plattsburgh Cardinals scored two goals in a span of 10 seconds early in the third period Saturday en route a 4-2 SUNYAC victory over Fredonia State.

Sophomore forwards Marc Deeley (Rochester, N.Y.) and Mat Hehr (Sherwood Park, Alberta) scored the Fredonia State goals.

The Blue Devils (3-6, 3-4 SUNYAC) were just finishing a power play when Plattsburgh goaltender Josh Leis made a big save while his teammates were scrambling in their defensive end.

The puck went to Ryan Corry, just out of the penalty box behind the Fredonia State defense. His shot just inside the post gave Plattsburgh a 2-1 lead at 3:02.

Plattsburgh's Dan Silasis won the ensuing faceoff, Dylan Clarke controlled the puck and passed to Kyle Kudroch, whose even-strength goal lit the lamp at 3:12.

Hehr cut the deficit to 3-2 with a power-play goal at 8:06 in the third period, his fourth goal of the seasoh, on a deflection of a shot by senior forward Jordan Oye (Richmond, B.C.). Junior forward Bryan Ross (Livonia, Mich.) was also credited with an assist.

Plattsburgh's Patrick Jobb scored an insurance goal at 14:34. Following a series of end-to-end rushes, Jobb took a rising shot through a screen. The puck sailed under the crossbar as Fredonia State freshman goaltender Mark Friesen (Calgary, Alberta) was anticipating a shot along the ice.

Plattsburgh took a 1-0 lead on an even-strength goal by Cody Adams at 16:15 of the first period.

The Blue Devils swung momentum in their favor with a goal late in the first period when Deeley scored his first goal of the season at 19:33 to forge a 1-1 tie. Ross and junior forward Billy Sanborn (Monroe, N.Y.) assisted.

Friesen finished with 31 saves while Leis made 24 saves. The victory ended Plattsburgh's three-game losing streak; the Cardinals improved to 3-4 both overall and in the SUNYAC.

Fredonia State is idle until Dec. 3 when it plays host to Elmira.
