FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Danny Scagnelli (College Point) had a goal and three assists to lead Geneseo past Fredonia State, 5-2, in SUNYAC action Friday night.
Scagnelli scored at 3:02 of the first period to put the Ice Knights ahead, 1-0, and they never trailed thereafter while improving to 4-1-1 overall and 3-1-0 in the SUNYAC.
Mat Hehr (Sherwood Park, Alberta) and Jordan Oye (Richmond, B.C.) had the Fredonia State goals. The Blue Devils fell to 1-5-0 overall and 1-3-0 in the conference.
Scoring the other Geneseo goals were Jonathan Redlick (Biggar, Sask.), David Arduin (Halfmoon Bay, B.C.), Ryan Baluch (Kelowna, B.C.), and Stefan Decosse (North Vancouver, B.C.), the latter into an empty net with 1:38 left.
Ice Knight goaltender Adrian Rubeniuk (Grandview, Manitoba) was credited with 36 saves while Fredonia State's Mark Friesen (Calgary, Alberta) had 26.
Both teams return to SUNYAC competition Saturday. Geneseo travels to Buffalo State, while Fredonia State entertains Brockport at the Steele Hall Ice Arena. Doors open at 6 p.m.
