BOX SCORE

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- After 84 minutes of back-and-forth play, Fredonia State senior Julie LaPolla (Penfield/Penfield) received a cross in the Cortland box and converted on what proved to be the game-winner in a 1-0 victory over Cortland State.

Freshman Maria Green (Albany/South Colonie) had her first shot blocked by the Cortland netminder. Green played the rebound by passing it to LaPolla who beat the Red Dragons Pam Monnier with 5:50 left to play.

It was LaPolla's fourth goal on the season.

Prior to that, the play was even for most of the second half, although by game's end, Cortland held the statistical advantage. The Red Dragons out-shot the Devils 26-10 and had a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Fredonia State's Kayleigh Forger (Rochester/Churchville-Chili) made nine saves en route to a shutout. Monnier was credited with four saves for Cortland.

Cortland (6-3-3, 2-1-1 SUNYAC) travels up I-90 to take on Buffalo State tomorrow afternoon.

The Devils up their record to 6-6 overall, and 1-3 in the SUNYAC. They play host to Oswego at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
