Devils slip to Stevens, crown King's

POUGHKKESIE, N.Y. – The Fredonia State volleyball team dropped the opening match of the Vassar Tournament to Stevens Tech, 3-0. They bounced back to take the nightcap with a 3-0 victory vs. King's College.

Against Stevens, the Devils fell by scores of 25-13, 25-21 and 25-11. Chelsea Senn (Hamburg/Frontier) led the Devils with seven kills. Kaitlin Erdmann (Randolph) added four kills and one block. Jessica Ernsberger (Rochester/Greece Arcadia) had 17 assists and five digs. Sarah Zureck (Lancaster/St. Mary's) paced the defensive effort with 13 digs.

Stevens improved its record to 29-5.

In the second match, the Devils downed King's 25-19, 25-11 and 25-13. Ernstberger had 25 assists. Jenna Tatu (Tonawanda/Kenmore West) had eight kills, four digs and one ace. Kaitlin Orcutt (Hamburg/West Seneca West) had seven kills and three digs. Lindsey Olson (Portville) finished with seven kills and one block.

King's College fell to 6-16 on the season.

The Devils finished the day with a 23-11 win-loss ledger. They take on Daemen and Vassar tomorrow afternoon.
