OSWEGO, N.Y. – Fredonia State clinched the No. 1 seed in the SUNYAC West Division with two Pool Play wins Friday.
The Blue Devils (19-10, 6-0 SUNYAC) also guaranteed themselves the home court for the SUNYAC championships Nov. 4-5-6. They will play against a lower seed on Nov. 5 in a semifinal match.
It was the fourth straight year that Fredonia State had been the top seed in SUNYAC West.
Fredonia State opened its second round of Pool Play with a 25-12, 25-22, 25-10 victory over Geneseo.
Jenna Tatu had nine kills, hit .500, and added two aces and four digs.
Hannah Manning added nine kills and three blocks,
Jessica Ernstberger 23 assists and 11 digs, and
Sarah Zureck four aces and 15 digs.
The Blue Devils ended their Friday night by outlasting Buffalo State 25-22, 25-21, 23-25, 17-25 and 15-12.
Kaitlin Erdmann led with 14 kills and two blocks,
Chelsea Senn added 13 kills, Jenifer Newhouse five kills on seven attempts, Ernstberger 47 assists, Zurech 20 digs, and
Danielle McNeil 11 digs.
The Blue Devils take on Brockport at noon and Oswego at 2 p.m. Saturday.
