FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Peter Dagel picked a good time to score his first goal of the season.

Dagel's header early in the 12th minute of overtime lifted Fredonia State over Brockport, 1-0, and into a three-way tie for first place in the SUNYAC.

The Blue Devils improved to 6-2 in the conference, tied with Brockport and Oneonta. The latter was a 2-1 overtime winner Friday over Cortland.

All three teams close out their SUNYAC regular seasons Saturday. The Blue Devils are home against Geneseo, Oneonta home vs. Oswego, and Brockport at Buffalo State. All games start at 1 p.m.

Dagel was on the scoring end of a play which began in the right wing. A free kick by Tyler Williams was blocked, but quickly came back to Williams, who crossed the ball into the box.

John Grabowski was also credited with an assist on the play.

The teams played a scoreless, statistically even first half. Each team had four shots and one corner kick.

The second half went more Fredonia State's way. The Blue Devils finished with 13 shots, seven on goal. Brockport goalkeeper Joe Marino was credited with six saves.

Fredonia State's Bobby McGinnis needed to make only one save to earn his fourth shutout of the season.

Brockport finished with a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

The win improved the Blue Devils to 8-8 overall, while the Golden Eagles fell to 10-2-2.
