Devils split at Invite

FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Blue Devils swept SUNY Geneseo, 3-0, in a non-conference women's volleyball contest extending their winning streak to eight matches, before falling to Thiel College, 3-2, in Day 2 of the Purple and Gold Invitational at Nazareth College.
 
The Devils downed Geneseo by scores of 25-17, 25-20 ad 25-19. Jen Newhouse (Amherst/Amherst) had nine kills and three blocks, while Kaitlin Erdmann (Randolph/Randolph) added six kills and four blocks. Sarah Zureck (Lancaster/St. Mary's) chipped in 14 digs and four aces.
 
Thiel one-upped the Devils with scores of 27-29, 21-25, 25-19, 25-22 and 15-9. Erdmann added 17 kills and three blocks to her tally. Jenna Tatu (Tonawanda/Kenmore West) had 11 kills and 17 digs and Brittany Lis (Lancaster/Lancaster) had 52 assists to go along with 19 digs. Zureck had another strong game defensively with 18 digs.
 
Following the Invitational, Erdmann was named to the All-Tournament Team.
 
The Devils now stand at 16-7 on the season.
