FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Hobart scored late in the first half and held on for a 2-1 victory over the Fredonia State Blue Devils during Homecoming 2010 at University Stadium.

The Statesmen took a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute on a goal by Alex Kittelberger. The Blue Devils countered in the 20th minute when John Grabowski set up a goal by Stephen Ahern to forge a 1-1 tie.

The deciding goal came off the foot of Shayan Mosavi at 39:38.

Hobart had a 23-14 advantage in shots in a game played through a steady rain. Hobart goalkeeper Charlie Hale made four saves. Fredonia State's Kevin Marsh stopped seven shots.

Fredonia State held an 8-7 edge in corner kicks.

The Statesmen improved to 6-2-2 while the Blue Devils fell to 4-7. The Blue Devils return to SUNYAC competition with a road game next Friday at Cortland.
