Sembel Koshi was the first Blue Devil to cross the line at the University of Rochester invitational with  a time of 27:38.6 for 8,000 meters. Koshi improved a whopping 83 spots over the final 6,000 meters and ran negative splits over the final two recording spots, each separated by 2,000 meters.
