Rebecca Allen was named a Fredonia State women’s volleyball assistant coach prior to the start of the 2019 season. She is returning to a program in which she played with distinction, earning 2009 All SUNYAC honors. She was also a member of the Blue Devil softball team after transferring to Fredonia State.
An accomplished student, Allen earned an Associate Degree in math and science from Jamestown Community College, a Bachelor of Science in chemistry with a minor in mathematics from Fredonia State, and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Fredonia State, which she earned in August 2011. While pursuing her masters, she served as a graduate assistant coach for the Blue Devil softball team.
Allen is a Regents and advanced placement chemistry teacher and varsity softball coach (formerly the junior varsity volleyball coach) at Maple Grove Junior/Senior High School in Bemus Point, N.Y. She has twice earned league Coach of the Year awards from The Jamestown Post-Journal. She began her teaching and coaching careers (varsity softball, modified volleyball) in the Cuba-Rushford (N.Y.) Central School District.
She also has worked as an adjunct laboratory professor at the Olean, N.Y., campus of Jamestown Community College, as JCC women’s volleyball camp director, league coordinator of the Jamestown Summer Volleyball League, and coach of the 18-and-under Bemus Area Volleyball program. She resides in Lakewood, N.Y.
