FREDONIA, N.Y. – Fredonia State women's lacrosse delivered a statement victory on Senior night, defeating Potsdam 16-8. The Devils' high-powered offense lit up the scoreboard with a balanced attack, featuring six different goal scorers and several assists.
The game opened as a back-and-forth contest, with the first quarter ending tied 3–3. Junior midfielder 
Mieley Baran got the Devils on the board with a solo effort just over two minutes after Potsdam's opening goal. After another Potsdam tally, Buchko connected on a smooth feed from 
Cailin Karalus to tie it once more. 
Emma Cockerel gave Fredonia their first lead of the game with a unassisted strike.  Potsdam answered late, knotting the score again to close the quarter.
Fredonia exploded in the second, seizing control of the game. Noelle Mendez, taking advantage of a man-up situation, finished a feed from Buchko to start the run. Gabby Lewinski followed with a pair of goals. Buchko and Cockerel added two more quick goals, both unassisted, before Karalus set up Kiera Young for a clean finish. A late Potsdam free-position goal made it 9–4 Fredonia State heading into halftime.
Buchko wasted no time to open the second half for the Devils, striking again on a free-position goal. Baran added her second goal of the game moments later. Cockerel then completed her third goal of the game before Potsdam briefly broke the Fredonia State run. Cailin Karalus and Cockerel hooked up again, with Cailin Karalus finding the net this time, and Fredonia closed the frame with a 13–7 advantage. In the fourth, Cockerel notched her fourth goal early, followed by another quick strike from Buchko. The final Fredonia goal came off the stick of Cailin Karalus to close the game 16-8 in favor of the Devils.

Emma Cockerel led the charge for the Devils, each notching four goals to pace the offense. Cockerel added two assists for a game-high six points, while Buchko tacked on an assist of her own. In the contest Buchko also recorded her 100th career goal as well. For the Bears Jayla Thompson recorded a hat trick while Megan Macwilliams also recorded three goals for Potsdam. Tessa Pierce chipped in a goal and an assist as well.

Ashleigh Manns stood tall, earning the win with nine saves and allowing eight goals, improving her record to 8-6. For Potsdam, Kimora Swamp faced a barrage of shots, stopping five in the loss dropping her record to 5-7. 
With the victory, Fredonia State improves to 8-6 overall and 3-3 in SUNYAC play. The Devils now turn their attention to a pivotal road test this Tuesday at SUNY Cortland, where they'll look to keep the momentum going in conference play.
