ROCHESTER N.Y. -- In their first 6k of the season, Fredonia's
Hannah Kurbs (Lockport, N.Y. / Lockport) finished in 24:48.8 which put her 32nd out of the 212 runners on Saturday.
Stephanie Wojnowski (Rochester, N.Y. / Eastridge) wasn't far behind finishing in 25:22.0 which placed her 47th.
"The women ran well," Fredonia Head Coach
Tom Wilson commented, "we are working on pack running but overall strong showing for the first 6k of the season."
The Fredonia women finished 10th overall as a team as Geneseo went on to win the women's side of the meet.
After Kurbs and Wojnowski, the other Fredonia scorers were
Natalie Hansen (Macedon, N.Y. / Penfield) in 65th,
Emily Maguire (Oakdale, N.Y. / Connetquot) in 69th, and
Elena Davis (Rochester, N.Y. / Irondequoit) in 72nd. The sixth and seventh displacement racers were
Morgan Ashton(Whitesboro,N.Y. / Whitesboro) in 82nd, and
Kelly O'Hara (Webster, N.Y. / Webster Thomas) in 89th.
For the men's 8k,
Ryan Dunning (Syracuse, N.Y. / West Genesee) finished first for the Blue Devils with a 28:58.2 which was good for 50th overall.
Noah Watkins (Cortland, N.Y. / Cortland) was just a minute behind Dunning finishing 68th with a 29:48.7 posted time.
Jeremy Erman (East Meadow, N.Y. / East Meadow) finished 77th,
Matthew Erman (East Meadow, N.Y. / East Meadow) in 77th, and
Seth Fonda (Buffalo, N.Y. / Cheektowaga) in 81st were the rest of the Fredonia runners who scored.
Kyle Egan (Monroe, N.Y. / Monroe-Woodbury) was the only displacement racer and finished 90th.
The men finished 13th overall as Geneseo also won the men's side of the meet.
The Blue Devils next meet will be again in Rochester for the Robert Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday.
