Women's volleyball drops two during tri-match

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday in a tri-match with Bethany and St. John Fisher.

The Blue Devils fell to Bethany in five sets in the opener (25-17, 24-26, 20-25, 25-14, 10-15). Up 7-2 midway through the fifth set, the Blue Devils allowed the Bison a 13-3 run to end the match. Kristen Stanek (Hamburg, N.Y. / Orchard Park) tallied 18 kills, while Kailey Falk (York, N.Y. / Our Lady of Mercy) and Emma Falk (York, N.Y. / Our Lady of Mercy) had 13 apiece. Kailey Falk also had 30 digs while libero Courtney Poirier (West Seneca, N.Y. / West Seneca) had 23. Sophomore setter Amanda Mosack (Webster, N.Y. / Webster Schroeder) ran the offense, finishing with 51 assists. 

Fredonia lost another five-set match to St. John Fisher in the afternoon (25-21, 24-26, 26-24, 21-25, 8-15). Kailey Falk led the offense with 22 kills, followed by Stanek and Emma Booth (Hamburg, N.Y. / Frontier) with 12 apiece. Hallie Christopher (East Amherst, N.Y. / Clarence) ran the offense, collecting 48 assists, while Falk picked up 22 digs on defense.

The Blue Devils travel to Oneonta next weekend for the final round of SUNYAC Pool Play.

Fredonia hosted The Side-Out Foundation's Dig Pink Rally during Saturday's tri-match, raising funds for stage-4 breast cancer research. The team announced that it raised $1,140.65 for the charity.
