Phillips-Ulrich Trail dedicated

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The official dedication of the campus running & walking trail took place during Fredonia 2016 Homecoming Weekend.

Dr. Everett Phillips and Jim Ulrich took part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday, October 22, during which the trail was named in their honor. The Phillips-Ulrich Community Trail was upgraded through donations of alumni, including many who participated in cross country and track & field.

Phillips, recently inducted into the Uniersity of Rochester Athletics Hall of Fame, and Ulrich were instrumental in the success of Fredonia's cross country and track & field men's teams from late-1970's through the late-1990's.

The Trail was part of the Fred Ruterbusch Memorial 5K course, also held in conjuction with Homecoming Weekend. Also sponsored by cross country/track & field alumni, the Ruterbusch Run -- now planned as an annual event -- memorializes Fredonia's first men's track & field NCAA Division III All-American.

Results of the race are linked to this page above.

The induction of Dr. Phillips into the Rochester Hall of Fame took place Oct. 8 as part of Meliora Weekend festivities there. He was previously inducted into the Fredonia Athletics Hall of Fame, a distinction he shares with his former colleague, Ulrich.
