FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia men's and women's basketball teams complete a busy week in Steele Hall on Friday and Saturday when they play host to New Paltz and Oneonta. They had played host to Buffalo State on Tuesday.
Friday's games are at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday's game will be at 2 and 4 p.m.
The women (6-8 overall, 3-5 SUNYAC) will look to stay on a "Steele-Hall roll", winning their previous three home SUNYAC contests. Tuesday's win over Buffalo State and victories over Plattsburgh and Potsdam two weeks prior have the team making a playoff push. They dropped a pair of road games at Brockport and Geneseo last weekend.
Tuesday's 72-67 win saw four players score in double digits and the team battle back after trailing at halftime.
Alexis Cheatham led the way with 18 points and is fourth in the SUNYAC at 14.9 ppg. Junior
Sabrina Macaulay (11.4) and freshman
Jacque Law (11.1) also have averaged double digits in scoring.
New Paltz enters the weekend at 8-5 overall and 4-2 in the SUNYAC. Oneonta (8-5, 3-3) plays at Buff State Friday before taking on the Blue Devils Saturday. The weekend marks the halfway point of the conference schedule. A good showing will help the team prep for a playoff push.
SUNYAC STANDINGSNew Paltz has won its last four games. Kit Small (9.6 ppg) and Colleen Ames (9.0 ppg) lead the offense. The Hawks rank first in the SUNYAC in three-point field goals per game (6.7) and steals (12.69 per game).
For Oneonta, Casey Cohen is sixth in the conference in scoring at 14.4 ppg.

The Fredonia men (1-11, 0-8) are still in search of their first SUNYAC victory. In four of the last six SUNYAC games, the Devils have held a lead at the half, and trailed by only three in one other. The young squad -- no seniors and only three returnees are on the roster -- are coming together, but the SUNYAC playoff clock is ticking.
Freshman
Ian Helps is coming off his fourth double-double (11 points and 10 rebounds) in Tuesday's loss to Buffalo State. The previous game, he tied a season-high with 23 points at Brockport. Junior
Bayron Carter has come on as of late, averaging 11.0 ppg over the last six contests.
New Paltz enters Friday at 6-7 overall and 4-2 SUNYAC. Oneonta (6-7, 3-3) comes to town the following afternoon.
