BOXSCORE 1 | BOXSCORE 2 BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State baseball team could not hold a 1-0 lead in the seventh and final inning of Game 1, and, after battling back to tie Game 2, 7-all in the eighth inning, could not get over the hump, giving up seven runs in the ninth. The games were played at Brockport, but the Devils were the home team due to Ludwig Field being unplayable.

The final scores were 4-2 in the first game, and 14-7 in the nightcap.

Starting pitcher Sean Larson held Brockport to three hits through six innings of Game 1. After striking out the lead off batter, he walked the next two. Reliever Kyle Grey came in and allowed a third walk to load the bases. Wesley Burghardt then singled in a pair of runs to give Brockport a 2-1 lead. Two more hits accounted for two more runs to put the Golden Eagles up, 4-1.

The Devils loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the ninth and were able to push across one more run to give a 4-2 final.

Anthony Schiro had a pair of hits for the Devils.

In Game 2, Brockport worked its way to a 4-0 lead after three innings. The Devils cut it to 4-1 in the fourth on back-to-back doubles by Kyle Koslowski and Dan Cecilia. Matt Casilio scored on a wild pitch in the fifth to make it 4-2.

Brockport tacked on two more in the sixth to take a 6-2 lead. The Devils responded with four in the bottom of the sixth. Freshman Liam Kelly drove in the first run on a single. Casilio followed that with another RBI single. Quinn Danahy doubled to plate another run. The final run scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of Conner Lorenzo to tie the game at 6-all.

Dan Hurliman blasted a solo homerun with two out in the eighth to give Brockport a 7-6 lead. The Devils answered with back-to-back doubles by Bobby Frantz and Liam Kelly to tie the game at 7-all.

As in the first game, the Eagle offense took over in the final inning with seven runs put the game out of reach.

The Devils roped 14 hits in the game. Koslowski had three, Cecilia, Frantz, Kelly and Casilio had two hits each.

The Devils (8-13 overall, 3-6 SUNYAC) play host to Oswego at Ludwig Field this weekend.
