IWLCA DIVISION III WEEK 9 POLL

SUNYAC WLAX PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD WINNERS

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- No. 14 ranked Fredonia State will play its first of two SUNYAC road games today as it heads into the final week of the regular season in women's lacrosse.

The Blue Devils -- 14-0 overall and 6-0 in the conference -- will visit Brockport today, and No. 4 Cortland on Saturday, with the reigning SUNYAC Player of the Week in tow. Senior midfielder Rachael Reinis (Webster) received the award Monday.

For the second straight week, Fredonia State moved up there spots in the NCAA Division III rankings -- up from No. 17 last week. Their current No. 14 rank is the highest in the history of the program.

The poll is conducted by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.

In addition to their IWLCA placement, the Blue Devils are No. 2 -- behind Cortland -- in the NCAA New York Region rankings. The regional rankings are used to determine berths into the national tournament next month.

Brockport is No. 5 in the New York Region and also received votes in the IWLCA D-3 rankings. The Golden Eagles bring records of 10-5 overall and 4-3 SUNYAC into today's game, which will start at 4 p.m. Live stats and streaming video will be available via the Fredonia State and the College at Brockport athletics websites.

One other SUNYAC team, Geneseo, received votes in the IWLCA poll. The Blue Devils edged the Blue Knights, 9-8, on April 9 as Reinis scored the game-winning goal, one of three she's netted this season. She scored nine goals on 12 shots in two games last week and has 33 goals and 10 assists this season, third on the team with 43 points. Her shooting percentage (.579) is best among Blue Devil starters.

Reinis is the third different Blue Devil field player to receive the SUNYAC award this spring. Junior midfielder Marissa Cussins (Corning) won the honor March 18, and junior defender Katie Kleine (Cazenovia) was the April 8 award winner.
