FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State rallied for three runs in the last of the ninth inning but saw its comeback fall short on a game-ending double play for a 10-7 loss Tuesday to Brockport in the second game of a SUNYAC doubleheader.

Brockport won the first game, 5-0.

A two-run single by Ian Gallagher (Pittsford) over the third-base bag scored the final two runs before the next batter grounded into a double play. The loss dropped the Blue Devils to 9-18 overall and 3-9 in the conference.

Gallagher finished with two hits and three RBI, Dan Greco (Lockport) had three hits and two stole bases, Brian Sheehan (West Seneca) also had three hits, and Dillon Lowe (Pittsford) added two hits. Zachary Jordon (Akron) was the starting and losing pitcher.

James Bardenett picked up the win for Brockport to improve to 7-2. He allowed one run on five hits over the first six innings. Four Golden Eagles pitched in relief. Corey Booth led the Brockport offense with four RBI. Mike Weakley homered.

Brockport's Jake Coleman pitched a three-hitter in the first game. He struck out seven and walked three.

The Blue Devils placed a runner as far as second base in the first, third, fourth, and fifth innings but never got one as far as third. With runners on first and second and one out in the third, both runners took off on the pitch but Lowe grounded sharply into an inning-ending third-to-first double play.

Lowe, Sheehan, and Erik Krohl (Syracuse) had the Fredonia State hits. Starting pitcher Sean Larson (Angola) was tagged with the loss. He allowed just two hits but walked four. Only one of the four Brockport runs scored against him was earned.

Fredonia State is back in action at home 4 p.m. Thursday vs. Pitt-Bradford for boarding a bus for a three-game weekend series at New Paltz starting Friday.
